The concept behind this painting is inseparable from the painting “Dream of Rebirth.” However, it is not just the title. The painting is titled “Ukraine Will Live.” It features the Ruthenia typeface, created by our renowned Ukrainian calligrapher Vasyl Chebanik. For this work, he was awarded the “Shevchenko Prize.” This is his volunteer work; he revives and restores each letter, adding modern elements to its symbolism. This is our millennia-old script, which was destroyed under Peter the Great in the early 18th century. He introduced language reforms: destroying our language, our alphabet, and our specific letters. After that, our language began to be called a “dialect,” that is, a regional language.
